Description
Air Fryer Apple Chips are a crispy, sweet snack made with simple ingredients like apples and cinnamon sugar. The perfect healthy treat packed with cozy fall flavor!
Ingredients
- 3 large Honeycrisp or Gala apples*
- ½ tsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp water
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp white sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- Optional to make them more fancy:
- ⅛ tsp ground cardamom
- ⅛ tsp ground ginger
- ⅛ tsp of sea salt
Instructions
- Slice apples into small 1/8-inch rounds using a mandoline or very sharp knife. Leave skin on. Remove seeds. You can core them if you want. Pat completely dry with paper towels.
- Toss apple slices with lemon juice and water in a large bowl. Let sit 2 minutes, then drain off excess liquid and pat dry.
- Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and optional additional spices (cardamom, ginger, salt, and cayenne).
- Sprinkle over apples and toss until evenly coated.
- Let seasoned apples sit for 10 minutes. This draws out moisture and helps spices adhere.
- Air fry in batches: Arrange in a single layer (don’t overlap). Air fry at 350°F for 8-10 minutes, flip, then 6-8 minutes more until edges are golden and slightly curled.
- Take them out and let them cool on a tray or plate.
Notes
*Honeycrisp or Gala apples are recommended because they have the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness, plus they hold their shape and don’t get mushy when heated.
