Description

This Hot Honey Chicken is the ultimate combo of sweet, spicy, and savory. Made in the air fryer, it’s quick, crispy, and golden every time. Perfect for sandwiches, salads, or enjoying on its own!

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 1 lb. chicken tenders
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups cornflakes, crushed (coarse crumbs)
  • Cooking oil spray

Hot Honey Sauce:

  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken tenders dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Set Up Dredging Stations:
    • In one shallow bowl, mix the flour with onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • In a second bowl, beat the eggs.
    • In a third bowl, add the crushed cornflakes.
  3. Bread the Chicken. Working one piece at a time, dredge the chicken in the seasoned flour, shaking off excess. Dip in the egg, then press into the crushed cornflakes, coating thoroughly. Transfer the breaded chicken to a plate.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 5 minutes. Lightly grease the air fryer basket with oil spray, then arrange the chicken in a single layer. You may need to cook the chicken in two batches. Spray tops of chicken with oil if desired to help crisp the coating.
  5. Air fry for 10 minutes at 400°F, flipping halfway through, until crispy and browned around the edges.
  6. While the chicken is cooking, make the hot honey sauce. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey, hot sauce, butter, and red pepper flakes. Stir until butter melts and the mixture is smooth. Taste and adjust the hot sauce to your desired level of heat.
  7. Drizzle or brush hot honey over chicken while still warm. Serve extra sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

If you have any leftover hot honey chicken, it can be stored in an airtight container and kept in the fridge for 2-3 days. To reheat, just place it back in the air fryer for a few minutes until it’s heated through and crispy again.
