Description
Juicy, evenly cooked burgers made entirely in the air fryer with a simple five-spice blend. No grill, no greasy stovetop, and ready in about 20 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (85/15)
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper, ground
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/8 tsp ground white pepper
Instructions
- In a large bowl combine seasonings and ground beef (still cold from fridge). Gently fold the seasonings into the meat so it’s well distributed throughout. Don’t overwork the meat.
- Form into four equal patties, then press a dimple right in the middle to prevent patties from puffing up.
- Place the patties on a plate and freeze for 5 to 10 minutes to firm up.
- Preheat the air fryer to 370°F for about 5 minutes.
- Add the patties in a single layer and air fry for about 8 minutes, flipping halfway through. Start checking the center with an instant-read thermometer near the end and pull them at your target temp (see notes).
- If adding cheese, lay a slice on each patty for the last minute of cooking so it melts.
- Serve on fresh buns with your favorite toppings.
Notes
Doneness (internal temp): Medium 140 to 145°F (warm pink center), Medium-Well 150 to 155°F (slight pink center), Well-Done 160°F (fully cooked, no pink). Air fryers vary, so go by an instant-read thermometer rather than the clock and pull them where you like them.
For the juiciest burgers: Use 85/15 beef, fold the seasonings in gently so you don’t overwork the meat, and chill the shaped patties 5 to 10 minutes before cooking. Dimple the centers so they stay flat, and add cheese during the last minute. White pepper is optional but recommended.
Frozen, storage & reheating: To cook from frozen, air fry at 370°F and add a few minutes, going by internal temp. Refrigerate cooked burgers up to 3 days, or freeze up to 2 months with parchment between patties. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for about 5 minutes.
