- 2¼ teaspoons: (1 pack) instant yeast
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ cup whole milk, warm
- â…“ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
For the Filling:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 ½ tablespoons ground cinnamon
- â…› teaspoon salt
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 4 oz cream cheese, at room temperature
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine bread flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix it with a whisk and make a well in the center.
- Combine warm milk and melted butter. Pour the milk mixture in the center, followed by the egg.
- Mix using the dough hook on medium speed for 8–10 minutes, or knead by hand until smooth and elastic. The dough should be soft but not sticky.
- Grease and cover the dough, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Meanwhile, prepare the filling. In a small bowl, mix together softened butter, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon into a spreadable paste.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into an 18×12-inch rectangle. Spread the cinnamon-sugar filling evenly over the dough.
- Roll up tightly from the long side and cut into 12 even pieces. Place rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- While the rolls bake, beat together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth and fluffy.
- Let the rolls cool for 15 minutes, then spread the cream cheese frosting over the warm rolls. Serve immediately and enjoy!
