Description

Seasoned pork chops are cooked to golden perfection and smothered with a creamy mushroom and onion sauce. The ultimate comfort food made easy.

Ingredients

  • 4 bone-in pork chops, about 1-inch thick
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbs onion powder
  • 2 tbs garlic powder
  • 1.5 tsp kosher salt, plus more to taste
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper, plus more to taste
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 8 oz white button mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 1.5 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tsp dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley, optional

Instructions

  1. Bring pork chops to room temperature and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine flour, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Dip pork chops into flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Reserve 2 tablespoons of flour mixture for later use.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, add oil. When hot, add pork chops and cook for about 3 minutes per side, until golden brown. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  4. Add mushrooms to skillet and cook, stirring occasionally for about 5 minutes. Stir in the onions and cook an additional 8-10 minutes until tender. Add reserved flour and cook until no lumps remain, about 1 minute. Stir in broth, cream and thyme and bring to a simmer over medium-low heat.
  5. Nestle pork chops into the sauce. Cover and simmer until sauce thickens and pork chops reach an internal temperature of 140°F on an instant-read thermometer, around 5-10 minutes. Top with parsley when done.
