Ingredients
- 2 large Vidalia onions
- 1 cup (8oz) of beer
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a deep fryer or frying pan, heat oil to 375 degrees. Use enough oil so it’s at least a couple of inches deep if using a pan.
- In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients and whisk to mix well.
- Slowly pour beer into mixture and mix well to create batter.
- Dip sliced onion rings into batter one at a time, and drop carefully into hot oil.
- Fry in oil for 1-2 minutes, then flip if necessary and cook another minute or so or until golden brown. Total time cooking in oil should be 2-4 minutes.
- Drain onion rings on paper towels.
