  • Total Time: 14 mins
  • Yield: 6-8 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 large Vidalia onions
  • 1 cup (8oz) of beer
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a deep fryer or frying pan, heat oil to 375 degrees. Use enough oil so it’s at least a couple of inches deep if using a pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients and whisk to mix well.
  3. Slowly pour beer into mixture and mix well to create batter.
  4. Dip sliced onion rings into batter one at a time, and drop carefully into hot oil.
  5. Fry in oil for 1-2 minutes, then flip if necessary and cook another minute or so or until golden brown. Total time cooking in oil should be 2-4 minutes.
  6. Drain onion rings on paper towels.
