Description
This easy stovetop honey garlic chicken is foolproof deliciousness. Just sear, simmer in that sticky-sweet sauce, and watch it disappear from plates in minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, cut into medium-sized cubes
- 1/3 cup onion, small diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Add the olive oil and swirl to coat the pan.
- Add the diced chicken to the skillet and sauté for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is golden on the outside.
- Add the diced onion to the pan and continue cooking for 3–5 more minutes, until the onion is soft and the chicken is mostly cooked through.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.
- Add the soy sauce, honey, sugar, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes to the skillet. Stir everything together and cook for another 3 minutes, allowing the sauce to start thickening.
- In a small bowl, whisk the cornstarch with the water to make a slurry. Pour the slurry into the skillet, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens. If you’d like a thinner sauce, add an extra splash of water and stir to combine.
- Continue cooking for 2–3 more minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Remove from heat, plate the chicken, and spoon the sauce over the top. Serve hot and enjoy.
