Description

Get that perfect crunch without the deep-fryer mess! These golden, air fryer mozzarella sticks feature a crispy panko crust with stretchy mozzarella on the inside.

Ingredients

  • 12 mozzarella cheese sticks, cut in half
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup plain breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasonings
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray
  • Chopped parsley, to garnish
  • Marinara sauce, to serve

Instructions

  1. Cut each cheese stick in half.
  2. Set up the breading station; place the flour in one bowl. Beat eggs in a second bowl. In a third bowl, mix the plain and panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasonings, pepper, and salt.
  3. Dip each piece into the flour, then into the beaten egg, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Freeze the coated sticks on a baking tray for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during cooking.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C). Spray the basket with oil, then place mozzarella sticks in a single layer. Lightly spray the tops with oil.
  6. Air fry for 5–7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Repeat the same with the remaining mozzarella sticks.
  7. Transfer to a plate, garnish with chopped parsley, and enjoy with warm marinara sauce.
