Description
Get that perfect crunch without the deep-fryer mess! These golden, air fryer mozzarella sticks feature a crispy panko crust with stretchy mozzarella on the inside.
Ingredients
- 12 mozzarella cheese sticks, cut in half
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- ½ cup plain breadcrumbs
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasonings
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Cooking spray
- Chopped parsley, to garnish
- Marinara sauce, to serve
Instructions
- Cut each cheese stick in half.
- Set up the breading station; place the flour in one bowl. Beat eggs in a second bowl. In a third bowl, mix the plain and panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasonings, pepper, and salt.
- Dip each piece into the flour, then into the beaten egg, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Freeze the coated sticks on a baking tray for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during cooking.
- Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C). Spray the basket with oil, then place mozzarella sticks in a single layer. Lightly spray the tops with oil.
- Air fry for 5–7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Repeat the same with the remaining mozzarella sticks.
- Transfer to a plate, garnish with chopped parsley, and enjoy with warm marinara sauce.
