Maple honey glazed baby carrots recipe

Carrots are such a wonderful vegetable that are equally enjoyable raw or cooked. For this recipe, we use a bag of baby carrots, which are already washed and peeled and roast them in the air fryer with a little olive oil and brown sugar. Then when they’re hot out of the air fryer, we toss them with a coating of maple syrup and honey. The natural sweetness of the carrots come to life while the simple glaze brings it all home. This is the perfect recipe to quickly whip together for any family feast.

    Oh Baby… These Carrots!

The convenience of using baby carrots make them the perfect treat to enjoy many different ways. Baby carrots  are simply larger carrots that have been peeled down to that size. And because they’re already washed too, it makes them all the more convenient.  Baby carrots are great in salads, with dips, just plain to get a healthy, crunchy snack, and of course, cooked. When carrots are cooked the natural sugars caramelize, and the carrots take on a whole new characteristic that’s sweet and delicious. And of course we’ll be helping the process along a little bit with our addition of brown sugar during that cooking process.

    Very Simple Ingredients

Don’t you just love when a recipe calls for simple ingredients you probably already have? For this recipe, the star is, of course, a 1lb bag of baby carrots. Then all we need is a tablespoon each of brown sugar, honey, maple syrup, and just a pinch of salt. I love to use a nice course salt such as kosher salt or sea salt. Just a pinch sprinkled on top looks good and makes the flavors pop even more.

    Easy Preparation

Start my drying those baby carrots just a bit. Carrots naturally have a high water content and you’ll notice they’re quite moist when you open the package. Dump them into a large bowl and use a couple of paper towels to just soak up some of that moisture. This will greatly help the roasting/caramelization process. Then get them good and coated with a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and a tablespoon of brown sugar. They already look delicious, right?!

Air Fry at 400°(F) for 14-18 Minutes

Be sure to preheat your air fryer at 400°(F) for about 5 minutes. We want the carrots to start the cooking process right away. Different brands of baby carrots can be slightly different in size. The total cooking time will be between about 14-18 minutes. Personally, I don’t mind if smaller sized carrots get a little bit of an extra roast so I generally just shoot for 18 minutes. If they look done a couple of minutes sooner – just take them out. You’ll be using the “air fry” setting on your appliance.

    Glaze Away

The final step for our honey maple roasted carrots is… the honey and maple syrup. All we need is a table spoon of each. After removing the carrots from the air fryer, place them in a bowl or large serving dish and add the honey and maple syrup right away, while the carrots are still hot. Toss them for about a minute to get that sweet goodness coating all the carrots. You may not be able to resist have a couple at this point and you have my full approval to do so.

Finally, top them off with just a sprinkle of salt. A nice kosher salt or sea salt is great. And voilà… they’re ready to serve!
