Best Damn George Foreman Grill Chicken Breasts

What if I told you that you could have tender, juicy and delicious boneless, skinless chicken breasts, from fridge to plate in about 15 minutes? That would certainly be the ultimate healthy dinner for a busy schedule. Well, with your George Foreman grill, we can do this!

George Foreman Grill boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Using the most basic, classic George Foreman Grill

The George Foreman Grill has been around for many years and has kinda revolutionized the indoor contact grill phenomenon. For most models, it’s as easy as plugging it in and waiting a few minutes for the it to be ready to grill. That’s it! For this recipe, i’ve used the most basic, inexpensive George Foreman Grill on the market, which costs under 25 bucks.

    Boneless, skinless chicken breasts

For this recipe we’ll be using boneless, skinless chicken breasts of about 6-8oz in size, and about ½″ thick. If you’ve purchased larger sized chicken breasts, simply slice them in half horizontally, and pound thin. Having a uniform thickness is important to allow for even grilling and to be cooked thoroughly throughout. I love the Purdue Perfect Portions individually wrapped chicken breasts. They’re the perfect size and ready to go.

    Quick and Simple Seasonings

No need to marinate this chicken overnight. We’ll be applying a very simple seasoning rub made from ingredients you probably already have in your pantry: oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, olive oil. Yep, that’s it! Simply mix the seasonings together, add the oil to the chicken, and apply the rub to the chicken. Now they’re ready for the grill!

    Preheat the grill first!

I cannot stress enough how important it is to preheat the grill first. It only takes about 5 minutes. Make sure the grill is clean and turn it on/plug it in, close the lid, and let it get hot! Most basic Foreman grills don’t have temperature settings, but for the ones that do, always set it to the highest setting.

    Get Grilling!

This part is so simple… once the grill is hot, add your seasoned chicken, close the lid, and let them cook for 4-6 minutes. That’s really all it takes. Larger chicken breasts may take a minute or 2 longer, but for a thin breast of 6-8oz, they should be done in around 5 minutes. You want to make sure the internal temperature is 165°(F) when checked with an instant read thermometer. Which, by the way, if you don’t have an instant read thermometer, get one immediately. It’s SUCH a huge help for cooking meat to the proper temperature.

    Let it rest

After your chicken is done, remove it from the grill and let it sit on the plate for at least 2 minutes before digging in. This lets the juices redistribute and assures a more tender and juicy piece of chicken.

    Serving Suggestions

Grilled chicken breast goes so well with just about anything. I like to keep bags of the frozen, microwavable steamer vegetables that cook right in the bag. With those, i’ve got a delicious meal in just a few minutes. Asparagus is one of my favorite vegetables and you can also cook it easily on a George Foreman Grill. Just add a little oil, salt and pepper and grill for about 5-7 minutes.

    Can I use Frozen Chicken?

I don’t recommend frozen chicken for cooking with this method. If all you have is frozen chicken, simply defrost in the microwave or place in a ziptop bag into cold water for about an hour.

far from “best damn” chicken…it was meh at best….the seasoning is overpowering and there were no grill marks by the time it was done. I don’t dislike any of these seasonings separately but they don’t do much for the chicken together

Made it tonight. Definitely tasty but needs more salt or sweetness to liven it up next time I try it.

I can’t eat garlic much so I substitute dried garlic scapes which I buy online. The recipe is then not only great but low FODMAP which makes it gut friendly.

The chicken cooked in the GF just as quickly as the recipe said which was nice and the char marks on the chicken made it look like it just came off the grill outdoors. The rub was good but it needed a little something sweet that was missing so we used bbq sauce for dipping. Loved it that it was ready so fast.
