    Autumn Spice Pear Cobbler

I swear, as soon as the trees start showing off their colorful leaves, my sweet tooth kicks into high gear. Fall is all about delicious and comforting desserts (my Pumpkin Apple Muffins and Homemade Apple Pie Roll Ups being some of my favorites!), but saying farewell to summer’s warm fruit cobblers? That’s a tough one.

You know where this is going. Treat you and your family to the best of both worlds with this tasty pumpkin pear cobbler recipe! Not only is it the perfect fall dessert, it’s so easy, even the kids can help make it. Sounds like a win-win to me!

    What You Need

    • All-purpose flour: This will help create a tender, flaky, and crispy crust for your cobbler.
    • Sugar: Some sweetness to balance out the tartness of the fruit.
    • Milk: Gets the cobbler nice and moist.
    • Melted butter: Use unsalted butter, as we’ll already add salt to the recipe.
    • Baking powder & salt: These are essential for creating a light, fluffy cobbler topping.
    • Pumpkin puree: This is where you get all those delicious fall flavors!
    • Vanilla extract: Every fall dessert is better with some vanilla.
    • Cinnamon: One of those great fall spices that adds warmth and depth.
    • Pears: I used canned pears for this recipe, but feel free to use fresh pears if you prefer.
    • 9×12 baking dish: This is the perfect size for creating a deep-dish cobbler.

How to Make Pumpkin Pear Cobbler

    Step 1: Preheat Oven

To start, preheat your oven to 350°F. Then grease a 9×12-inch baking dish with Pam or another nonstick spray.

Step 2: Mix Dry & Wet Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon until the mixture is well combined.

Then in a separate bowl, mix the milk, melted butter, pumpkin puree, and vanilla until nice and smooth.

    Step 3: Combine & Assemble

Combine the wet and dry mixtures. Stir until the batter is smooth and no clumps remain.

Pour it into your prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly. Then, arrange the pears on top, making sure not to press them into the batter.

    Step 4: Bake

    Now let’s bake this beauty!

Bake at 350°F until the cobbler is set and golden brown on top, about 45 minutes.

When done baking, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or maple syrup for an extra decadent treat.

    Enjoy!

    Storage

Store any leftover pear pumpkin cobbler in an airtight container in the fridge for 4-5 days. To reheat, place it in the microwave in 30-second intervals until warmed through.

    Pumpkin Peach Cobbler FAQ

Is cobbler supposed to be served hot or cold?

This pumpkin pear cobbler is meant to be served warm, ideally right after it’s out of the oven. However, a cold cobbler would still taste yummy!

What is the secret to a juicy cobbler?

I recommend spreading the canned pears evenly all over the top of the batter to ensure there isn’t enough space for any steam to escape. This will keep the cobbler nice and moist.

    What thickens cobbler?

If you want a thicker cobbler, try cooking off the liquid first. You can also add more flour if need be.

Add this a couple of months ago. It was delicious! We used only one cup of sugar (it was all we had in the house🥴) and a whole can of pumpkin purée. One of the best desserts I have had in a long time.
