This sloppy joe biscuit bake is an easy dinner that comes together in one dish. It’s made with seasoned ground beef, soft biscuits baked into a homemade sloppy joe sauce, and finished with melted shredded cheese. It’s filling, comforting, and works well for nights when you want something simple and warm without a lot of extra steps.

    Unforgettable Sloppy Joe Biscuit Casserole

I’ve made a lot of casseroles over the years, and this one stands out for being simple and reliable. It’s a straightforward twist on a classic sloppy joe, baked with biscuits and plenty of cheese, and it doesn’t take much effort to pull together. Most of the ingredients are pantry staples, so it’s easy to make without a special grocery trip.

The sauce is what brings everything together. A quick homemade sloppy joe sauce pairs well with the ground beef and soft biscuits and keeps the dish from tasting overly processed or heavy.

This works well for a casual weeknight dinner, game day, or bringing to a potluck. It’s easy to serve and easy to share.

    Ingredients

    • Ground beef: Can’t have sloppy joes without ground meat! You can also use ground turkey if you’d like.
    • Onion: Creates a nice, savory base.
    • Can tomato sauce: One can gives our sauce that perfect saucy consistency.
    • Ketchup: A pantry staple that adds the classic tang and sweetness we all love.
    • Tomato paste: Just a dollop to create depth of flavor and thicken things up.
    • Worcestershire sauce: The secret weapon for a hit of umami and zip
    • Yellow mustard: Adds a little brightness to cut through the richness.
    • Brown sugar: A touch of sweetness to balance out the savory spices.
    • Spice mix: Garlic powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and black pepper give this sloppy joe casserole tons of savory flavor.
    • Refrigerated biscuits: Grab a tube of your favorite flaky biscuits – they soak up all that sauce beautifully!
    • Shredded sharp cheddar cheese: Because everything is better with a thick layer of melted cheese on top.
    • Butter (optional): Melted and brushed over the biscuits for a gorgeous golden finish.
    • Parsley or green onions (optional): A little pop of green to make the dish look as good as it tastes

    Step 4: Bake

Bake for 40-45 minutes. At the 15-minute mark, loosely cover the dish with aluminum foil to prevent the biscuits from over-browning.

    Pro Tip

The casserole is ready when the tops of the biscuits are golden and cooked through, and the center is hot and bubbly.
